The basics
What is a data broker?
A company that collects personal information from public records, marketing lists, social media and other sources, then sells or publishes it. People-search sites are the most visible kind: anyone can type in your name and see your address, age, phone numbers, relatives and more, often for free or a few dollars.
What does PrivacyAI do?
We search data broker and people-search sites for listings about you, remove every one that's you, and keep checking in case you're listed again. Your dashboard shows every listing we found and where each removal stands.
Is the free scan really free?
Yes. You enter your name and city, and we search a set of people-search sites and show you masked results. No account, card or email address is needed. We use what you enter only to search the sites for your scan, never sell it, and delete it and the results within 24 hours.
How removal works
Which sites do you remove me from?
People-search and data broker sites, and we add more all the time. Your dashboard lists every site we check you on and the status of each listing, so you can see exactly what we cover.
How long does removal take?
We remove some listings within a day or two. Others take several weeks, depending on how quickly each site takes a listing down. You can follow each one in your dashboard as it moves from found, to requested, to removed.
What does "Confirmed by the site" mean?
The site has told us it removed you, but we haven't seen that for ourselves yet. We check the site, and once the listing is gone we mark it Removed. If it's still up, we keep going and send the request again.
A few sites can't be searched, so there's nothing for us to check. On those, the site's confirmation is what marks it Removed.
Will my information come back?
It can. Data brokers refresh their records from new sources and sometimes list people again. We search every site again each month and remove you again whenever a listing reappears.
What if a site won't remove me?
If a listing is still up when it should be gone, we send the request again each month until it is. A few sites refuse outright, usually because they only remove residents of certain states, and your dashboard tells you when that happens.
Do you remove me from Google?
We remove the listings themselves, at the source. Once a page is gone, search engines usually drop it from their results over the following weeks.
Your information
What information do you need from me, and why?
Your name and any other names you've used, your date of birth, current and past addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. Brokers list people by these details, so we need them to find your listings and tell them apart from other people with your name. Many sites ask for them before they remove a listing, too.
How do you protect it?
Your profile is stored encrypted, and only the systems that search for and remove your listings use it. We share it with a data broker only when removing a listing requires it, and only the details that removal needs.
Why do you ask me to sign an authorization?
Some privacy laws let you name an authorized agent to make deletion requests for you. The authorization lets us act on your behalf with the brokers that work that way. You sign it once, during signup.
Do you sell my information?
No. Removing your information is the whole service. We never sell or rent the information you give us, or anything we find about you, to anyone.
Our website's own analytics and advertising cookies, which some state laws count as a sale or sharing, are off unless you turn them on and never carry anything from the free scan or your account. You can change that at any time from Your Privacy Choices, at the bottom of every page.
How do I delete everything you hold about me?
Use Delete my info, linked in the footer of every page. It erases your profile, listings and removal history. It's separate from cancelling, so you decide when everything goes.
Plans and billing
How much does it cost?
$8 a month on an annual plan, billed monthly. There's one plan with everything included.
Can I cover my family?
Not yet. Each account covers one person for now. Family plans are on the way.
How do I cancel?
Turn off your subscription in Billing, in your dashboard, at any time. That stops your plan renewing. It's an annual plan, so the monthly payments continue until your 12 months are up, and we keep removing your listings until then.
Your plan renews automatically for another 12 months unless you cancel before the renewal date. We email you at least 30 days before it renews.
Can I get a refund?
In some cases, yes. If our scans find nothing about you, even after you add more details, you can ask for a refund of your first payment within 14 days of making it. We also refund any charge we made by mistake, and we credit you for any stretch of 7 days or more when our service stopped working for you. Otherwise, payments aren't refundable, and your plan runs to the end of its 12 months.
To ask, use Request a refund on the Billing page in your dashboard.
